Peter Pan Nursery is a unique charity for pre-school children with special needs. It develops and maximises the potential of the children in its care and gives much needed respite and support to parents. The children have wide ranging disabilities, conditions and syndromes such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and visual and hearing impairments.
On Monday night we organised an evening at The Arch Restaurant, which was attended by more than 100 people from the business communities of Staffordshire and Cheshire. The generosity of our clients and contacts who donated prizes was overwhelming, and this generosity was matched by everyone who attended. Prizes ranged from private helicopter trips with lunch, to concert tickets and pamper days.
The amount raised certainly exceeded our expectations, and perhaps more importantly we have been able to raise the profile of the charity amongst our business community.
The funds will be put to good use immediately as the nursery has a waiting list of over 30 children and it can now press ahead with recruitment plans to deal with that. The money raised means that it can put on an additional 200 half-day sessions, which is equivalent to 4 children off the waiting list altogether and into Peter Pan’s care.
We’ve received a few late donations this week and our final total is £10,439. A great feeling to end the week on!
