The Christmas drop
Friday 7 December
9.30am - 4pm
We like to make a difference to people less fortunate than ourselves on our doorstep, and hope that this year’s event will be even bigger and better.
Alice Charity raises funds to give children from low income families Christmas presents, the only one that many of these children will receive. This year we’ll be concentrating on newborn babies and 10-19 year olds who are carers for their parents; both are so often overlooked.
We’ll be buying things like:
10-19 year olds –
- board games
- hat and scarf sets
- chocolates and sweets
Looking at the wider community, Stoke-on-Trent foodbank helps over 49,000 people each year – with one in three being children. We were surprised at their ‘urgent wish list’ which includes:
- christmas pudding and mince pies
- UHT milk
- tinned fish
- pasta sauce
- instant mashed potato
- tea bags
- fruit juice.
Mitten Clarke, and our team individually, will be donating gifts and food for these charities over the coming weeks and we wondered if you’d like to join in? If so, it would be great if you could drop in to our office anytime between now and Friday 7 December to donate.
We’ll be gift wrapping and boxing everything up on Friday 30 November and also Friday 7 December, when we’ll be having “open house” at our office. So if you’d like to help with this bit too, why not join us for a coffee and wrap a present or two? To register your interest simply get in touch with Dan Lowndes on firstname.lastname@example.org – it will be lovely to see you!
We’ll be posting updates on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as the #christmasdrop progresses. Do please help us if you can by donating and spreading the word as widely as possible by sharing, liking and re-tweeting. We’ll be sure to give you a big thank you on social media!
